The Book Shelf has a 2" front lip — sufficient for retaining paperbacks and magazines, but too shallow for upright greeting cards. The Greeting Card Shelf has a 3" lip — the correct depth to retain standard greeting cards face-forward. Use the book shelf for books and magazines; use the greeting card shelf for cards.
