Yes. A longer bracket creates a greater moment arm — the load is distributed farther from the wall, increasing stress on the groove. A 16" bracket under the same load as a 6" bracket puts significantly more stress on the slatwall groove. For heavy merchandise on deep shelves, ensure panels have aluminum insert reinforcement and consider the Heavy Duty Support Arm (EC-3380).
