What bracket depth should I choose for different types of merchandise?

6": small accessories, cosmetics, jewelry, narrow merchandise. 8": standard retail shelf for packaged goods, beauty, pharmacy. 10"-12": standard mid-depth retail shelf for most general merchandise. 14"-16": deeper shelves for boxed goods, folded apparel, home goods, footwear. As a rule, choose a bracket depth 2" less than the shelf depth — a 10" bracket for a 12" shelf keeps the bracket tip from extending past the shelf front.
