Standard gauge barbs are used for heavier fabrics — denim, outerwear, canvas, and most standard retail garments. Fine gauge barbs are shorter and thinner — used for delicate fabrics, lingerie, and anywhere minimizing fabric damage is important. Always match barb gauge to fabric type. When in doubt, use the finer gauge.
