Measure the slot width and the center-to-center distance between slots. Universal: 1/2" wide slots, 1" center-to-center. Heavy Duty: 1" wide slots, 2" center-to-center. You can also count slots per foot — Universal has approximately 12 slots per foot; Heavy Duty has approximately 6 slots per foot.
